Are You Unprepared For Your Maid of Honor Wedding Toasts? Get Up to Speed With These Great Suggestions…
Hi, Natalie here…
It was not that long ago when I was in your shoes and I had to write a maid of honor wedding toast. If you are going to be a maid of honor for a special friend or perhaps it’s your sister, then you should keep reading…
I have devoted this entire blog to just those who are seeking advice on maid of honor toasts or perhaps those who just need a few helpful hints and tips.
From my own experience, I hope that this blog provides all the maid of honor speech and toast tips that you need. What I’ve learned is that the wedding planning is pretty difficult enough, so you don’t need to stress over preparing the wedding toast. So I’m here to provide some simple, easy to learn tips on how to create your maid of honor toast.
In addition to this post, I have included many speech suggestions in my special best maid of honor toast tips and maid of honor toast examples posts. So you might want to take a look at those also!
Here are two tips that you should also consider (no matter what you do, do not leave these 2 things out)
Tip #1
First you should always try to include humor in your speech. Everyone loves to hear about funny moments involving the bride. The maid of honor toast should include some stories when you and the bride grew up or something silly that you both did together. You should also try to create a story from when the bride first met the groom into something funny .
Tip #2
After the humor part in your toast, make sure to mention something sincere and touching about the bride. For instance, you should mention a little story that is from the heart, you know some memory you both shared together. For me, I included some stories that brought some tears to my eyes and that is what being a maid of honor is all about. Being honest and sincere.
If I can be honest, what really helped me put all of this together was reading over some really useful maid of honor speech examples that one of my friends emailed to me. Not only did it provide me with some fantastic tips but I got to see some amazing and actual written examples to go with those tips. That really eased my fears about my maid of honor speech and helped me be confident in front of all those people at the wedding. Thankfully, I did not embarrass myself or my sister knowing what I knew. My sister and mom told me it was the most beautiful and sincere speech they had ever heard. I felt so relieved.
And speaking of emotions – it is ok about being emotional while making your maid of honor wedding toast. It really illustrates that you care. Trust me, your wedding toast will mean more to the bride if you are emotional, so do not worry if you are.
So here’s one more special tip: If you need something to help you relax prior to your big toast then try sipping on a glass of wine about 30 minutes before hand. This will help calm your nerves. Make sure not to over do it. One glass is all you need about a half hour before the big speech. Also, make sure that you don’t read your speech. Practice makes perfect so memorize and rehearse it so that you look and sound great.
I am confident that if you follow these tips and use those really helpful maid of honor toast examples from the same set I did, your maid of honor speech will be the hit of the wedding. I can assure you of that.
Oh, if you need the link to those examples again, here they are:
